A Journey through cultures

The Long Night Of Intercultural Dialogue is an annual public event that celebrates Vienna’s rich history with culture, creativity and art. This year, it will take place on Saturday, 8. September 2018, offering so much to discover: music, food, art, costumes, insights and discussions, and more.

Austria’s location in the heart of Europe gives it a unique advantage as a melting pot of culture. Various art and cultural venues will extend their opening hours to allow for increased access to the public.

The Long Night of Intercultural Dialogue celebrates this myriad of culture that has shaped the Austrian identity for many years. Visitors will be able to partake in a variety of activities to learn from and experience this diversity that is synonymous to Vienna.

Rathaus

Rathaus shall serve as the venue for our opening ceremony.

It will host a symposium with a variety of prominent speakers and critical topics, a show of traditional costumes from around the world, and a surprise football match between international players.

Altes Rathaus

Altes Rathaus’ evening will begin with a musical performance featuring vocals and piano.

A panel discussion between inspirational and accomplished individuals will cover topics like diversity and interculturality.

Finally, there will be an opportunity to socialise with other attendees at the reception.

Yunus Emre Institut

The Yunus Emre Institute will offer visual exhibitions from artist all over the world, letting visitors experience first-hand the varied perspectives our society is built on, as well as get a glimpse of the importance of cultural diversity.

Snacks like Turkish delights and coffee will be served.

Chocolate Museum Vienna

The Chocolate Museum Vienna promises a sweet evening for all attendees.

After the reception, the museum shall open their doors for participants to find out the wonders of chocolate for themselves.

There will be an opportunity to create and decorate individual chocolate sweets.

Hauptbahnhof

ÖBB Hauptbahnhof will display touching photography and video exhibition featuring migrants and their individual experiences.

It will further entice with storytelling from narrators who experienced migration first-hand.
